Course Development Agreements
Online Course DevelopmentWhat Services and Support Does the Office of Online Learning Provide?
Online Program Development
We consult with deans, chairs, and department program managers to evaluate program level resource needs, plans of study, instructional practices, faculty development needs, recruitment goals, and student services. We provide support for curriculum research, program demand, and competitive analysis.
Course Development
We fund and manage the OOL course development cycle in collaboration with the CTLD instructional design team. Courses selected for development will meet criteria geared toward the production of fully online programs and where possible, will be developed in close succession to support the launch new online programs. Faculty receive a $5,000 supplement for successful completion of a course that meets MSU Denver design standards. Chairs can contact KC Coburn to discuss funds for course release time as an option to faculty stipends and new and existing programs that may be good candidates for online learning.
Marketing Spend and Implementation
We complete market research and propose a plan to departments upon launch of a new OL program. Marketing campaigns are updated twice annually, and chairs are invited to review and approve content. We work with departments and program leads to revise plans in real time to meet enrollment goals. Please contact KC Coburn if you have questions about future or current campaign spend and management.
Prospective Student Communication
We manage 1:1 and automated personal communications to prospective students highlighting the value and benefits of an MSU Denver online education. We craft actionable website content, so prospective students know how to learn more about programs of interest and engage with admissions, the online enrollment management team, or the department as requested by the chair or program lead.
Student Success Coaching
We provide concierge-level guidance and support to online students to ensure progress to graduation. Success coaching supplements academic advising, ensuring we have done everything in our power to support all students toward their goals up to and including 1:1 coaching appointments with a certified student success coach.
Program Coding
We coordinate interoffice collaboration to ensure accurate coding of online students across the institution’s varying student information systems and leverage accurate student coding for the delivery of reporting, planning, and student services.
Reporting
We manage and use online program-specific reports to guide ongoing adjustments to ensure the vitality of programs. Reports include: 1) prospect to enrollment funnel, 2) longitudinal program health report, 3) student retention funnel, and 4) instructional modality trends.
Compliance Management
We advocate for online programs to remain in good standing with multiple agencies including the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE), and other accrediting and regulatory agencies. Programs and courses that do not adhere to minimal course design standards will be out of compliance with one or more agencies listed. If you have questions about compliance requirements, contact Jae Joo.
